Sandy Hook Promise: What They Left Behind Case Film

WHAT THEY LEFT BEHIND CASE STUDY FILM

What They Left Behind

The gun debate is a dead end. It's gone nowhere and will continue to go nowhere for years to come. So instead of talking about guns, SHP decided to talk about something both pro- and anti-gun people can agree on - protecting our kids.

For the second anniversary of the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, we worked with director Tarik Karam, and multi-Academy Award nominated executive producer Stephen Daldry, to create What They Left Behind, a 34-minute documentary that focuses on the tragic gun deaths of three American children, the families they left behind, and, most importantly, how each of these tragedies could have been prevented - through mental health awareness, social media, and gun safety.

After traveling to different parts of America and meeting those affected by gun violence, we gathered a few of the horrific stories into one piece of film. The full 34-minute documentary that focuses on the tragic gun deaths of three American children, the families they left behind, and, most importantly, how each of these tragedies could have been prevented - through mental health awareness, social media, and gun safety.

Sandy Hook Promise: Monsters Under The Bed

Monsters under The Bed

To talk about guns in America is a maddening, dead-end exercise. Instead, Sandy Hook Promise wanted to talk about something everyone can agree on - protecting children.

To help them do this, we created Monsters Under the Bed, a short web film that compares and contrasts the powerful fact that parents are better prepared to protect their kids from imaginary threats - like monsters and the boogeyman - than they are real threats like guns and school shootings.
